Amman, Jordan: Jordanian Army troops ply the streets of Amman in an armored personnel carrier 9/24, whose front bears painted portrait of King Hussein. A cease-fire was ordered 9/25 by Hussein and Palestinian guerillas, effectively ending the nine-day civil war which may have claimed thousands of lives.
