Description
Ulan Bator, Mongolia: Mongolia, the vast Soviet land sandwiched between Russia and Red China is marked by contrast. Thousands of one-room tents, known as yurts, surround the capital city, Ulan Bator (TOP). Sixty-five percent of Mongolia's 1,170,000 nomadic population prefers yurts to the modern apartment buildings that line the streets of the capital (BELOW).
