Nixon, Richard M.

Description

New York: Former Vice President Richard M. Nixon, who for eight years lived a heartbeat away from the U.S. Presidency but missed being elected to be the nation's Chief Executive by a fraction of one per cent, strolls casually along New York's Fifth Avenue, March 2. Immediately behind Nixon is Nick Reuwe, a member of his staff. Man at left with attache case is an unidentified staff member of the Jack Paar show on which Nixon is to appear March 8. UPI photographer Joel Schrank, who accompanied Nixon on his stroll from the University Club, where he had made a speech, to the Waldorf-Astoria, said Nixon went almost unrecognized on the walk until he stopped to pose for pictures for Schrank in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral.
