Description
New York: Carrying banners, placards and the American flag, some 3,000 Jewish men, women and students massed at Dag Hammarskjold Plaze in New York (3/4). Sponsored by the Student Struggle for Soviet Jewry, headed by Jacob Birnbaum, the demonstration was staged in protest against the Soviet Government's suppression of Jewish religious and cultural rights. Before arriving at the plaza, the demonstrators paraded near the Soviet Mission to the United Nations under the slogan of 'The Jericho Nation.'
