Description

Los Angeles: In the glare of morning-after press conference lights the new Mayor-elect of Los Angeles, Thomas Bradley, appears a happy man. Bradley, a black former Los Angeles police lieutenant, defeated Mayor Sam Yorty 5/29 in a runoff election. Yorty has been mayor for the past 12 years. Bradley described his victory as a 'backlash' against racism and pledged to be mayor for all the people of Los Angeles.
