Description
East Lansing, Mich.: Dr. Clifton R. Wharton Jr., President of Michigan State University, talks to friends on the telephone 1/12 after he was elected a member of the Ford Motor Company Board of Directors. Wharton, who became the second Black to sit on an automotive board, has been President of MSU for three years and will not receive any fees for his service with Ford. Instead, the auto company will pay to MSU the fees normally paid to a member of the board.
