Description
Sturgis, KY: Evidence of the continuing racial disturbance in Sturgis are these National Guardsmen at the entrance to a local school, September 10th. Holding their weapons at the ready, the Guardsmen are about to escort a group of Negro students leaving the school. Later, the Sturgis school board barred the Negros on the grounds that they had been 'illegally admitted', and ordered them to attend a segregated Negro school.
