Abstract
Hydrogel microparticles can conform to and pass through pores up to 10 times smaller than the particle diameter (see picture). Network flexibility of this extent is unprecedented in the context of pore passage. Microgels even show such compressibility and prepenetration at size ratios and pressure differentials comparable to physiological renal filtration conditions, making them of potential interest in drug-delivery applications.
