Vietnam War, 1961-1975; Anti-war demonstrations
Palo Alto, Calif: A draft resistor just back from Sweden, Kenneth Rutledge, 26, said at a press conference 2/7, that there should be amnesty for men like him because 'I would like to think the war could be over for everyone.' Rutledge returned to the US 2/5 and by prior arrangement surrendered to FBI agents. Rutledge was ordered to report for induction in June 1971 & indicted in February 1972 when he failed to report for duty.
