Charles C. Chapman Citrus Speeches

Charles Clarke Chapman, 1853-1944, namesake and founding father of Chapman University, was an entrepreneur who is credited for popularizing the Valencia orange and for branding the orange crate boxes with attractive labels. As Mr. Chapman became knowlegeable about the citrus industry by learning from other growers and by his experience, he began giving speeches on the topic to citrus grower conventions, to farmer clubs, high schools, and Y.M.C.A.'s among other venues. This collection covers every aspect of citrus production, from the soil composition, fertilizing, pests and diseases, irrigation, care and handling, shipping, and marketing. Many of the speeches also focus on the traits and knowledge required to be a farmer.
