Secretary of State Henry Kissinger (at microphone) annouces, "We have begun what I am confident will be a lasting friendship," during raising of American flag over U.S. Embassy building here. The ceremony signaled a full-scale renewal of diplomatic ties broken off during the 1967 Middle East War.
