Somewhere in Egyptian Desert: U.A.R. tank crew stands outside their vehicle somewhere in the Egyptian desert recently, during break in maneuvers with live ammunition. Egypt, appearing to have stiffened the terms of its initiative for reopening the Suez Canal -- blocked since the June 1967 War -- in return for a partial Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Sinai Peninsula, was assured by Pres. Nixon, according to diplomatic sources April 2nd, that the United States will continue her efforts to break the present impasse blocking the way for a peaceful settlement of the Middle East crisis
