Fairchild Air Force Base: Air policeman checks identification at entrance of this Strategic Air Command installation west of Spokane, Wash., (10/25) after it was placed on 'precautionary alert' due to the tense middle east situation. The base normally is home of a B-52 squadron, but the bombers remain deployed in southeast Asia. Only KC-135 tankers are at Fairchild.
