Atlanta: The Rev. Ralph Abernathy described Vice Pres. Spiro Agnew as a 'stumbling block' to black progress 7/18 as he took issue with Agnew's criticism of Negro leadership in America. Had it not been for good black leadership, many Negroes ' would have turned to violence long before now,' Abernathy said.
