Photograph taken by Carl Louis Gregory, with his notes on verso: "Rene Farrington and juice boy. - Thanhouser Studio, 1913. Little attention was paid to lighting effects in early productions - the first ones were made on open air stages in bright sunlight - Later sheets were used to diffuse the sunlight. - Then glass houses with ribbed glass to diffuse the light. - Then artificial lights on dark days brought in lighting effects."
