Article from Bulletin of Photography, 1909: “Hunting African Lions in the city of Chicago: How a Fake Roosevelt picture was made.” Information about William Selig’s film recreation of Theodore Roosevelt hunting a lion in Africa. In 1896 Selig had founded the Selig Polyscope Company in Chicago, one of the first motion picture studios in America. He began making actuality shorts, travelogues and industrial films for Chicago businesses.
